Hey everyone,
It's been a while since we updated our community on what the gang at New Wave Wild Project have been up to.
In case you didn't know, we've been working with New Wave for 2 years now, supporting their funding through the sale of our New Wave t-shirts, as well as through our Outwest Outdoor Club events.
What do New Wave do?
New Wave Wild Project is a clinical adventure therapy non-profit based in Camp, Co. Kerry, who design and deliver a range of therapy offerings and projects through adventures in amazing blue and green spaces. The project was founded by married couple Jasmin and Philip, who bring together backgrounds in psychotherapy, education and psychology to create person-centred therapy rooted in the outdoors.

Depending on the person's need, an intensive one-to-one programme might be the best fit, or a small group adventure to support engagement and all the benefits of co-adventuring. Just off the Kerry Camino, in a magical spot by the stepping stone crossing of the River Finglas, stands The Wild Den. This unique spot combines blue and green space features to provide the perfect setting for great therapeutic sessions in nature.

What is happening this year?
This year, New Wave are running a new initiative, Wild Growth. Wild Growth is a small group therapeutic adventure programme offered to teens this summer, aiming to provide a safe space for fun, growth and connection.
Wild Growth will take place at The Wild Den for a 6 week series of sessions, diving into activities and tasks aimed at building confidence and skills, while exploring nature and reflecting on strengths and needs.

This project is supported by us here at Outwest, through our community and customers who have generated donations from t-shirt sales, events and community hikes to support New Wave Wild Project in delivering all kinds of programmes for young people and families, including early intervention supports and creative adventure programming.
New Wave are excited to welcome Glenn to the team, all the way from the University of New Hampshire. He's joining them in creating and delivering person-centred adventure therapy projects this summer, and he'll be leading our Wild Growth project starting this Friday, 3rd July.

Wild Growth is suitable for anyone between the ages of 14-17. The project is open to everyone, but may be especially helpful for young people who have been struggling at school or socially. The approach is experiential and suits lots of learning styles. There are only 6 spaces available (all fully funded). You'll need to be available every Friday, 11am to 3pm, from 3rd July to 7th August for sessions at The Wild Den.
