At Outwest, our supply chain is vital to our business and story. As a B Corp Certified company, we uphold high standards in ethical production, sustainability, and worker treatment. Our goal is to create premium outdoor apparel with transparency and accountability.
From our first collection, we’ve worked with factories that prioritize quality and responsible manufacturing. Our cotton and jersey products are made in Portugal by trusted, ethical factories. For technical outdoor wear, we partner with a Belgium-owned company with factories in Asia, ensuring full transparency and high standards across our production line.
Being B Corp Certified means we prioritize ethical sourcing, fair wages, and sustainable practices. As we grow, our commitment to people and the planet remains at the heart of what we do.
Crafting Quality Products with a Conscious Mindset
Every material we choose are as important as the designs themselves. We believe that high-performance outdoor apparel should not only stand up to the elements but also respect the environment. That’s why we carefully select materials that strike a balance between durability, comfort, and sustainability, and we'll continue to explore innovative materials that reduce our environment impact, without compromise on performance and comfort.
Here’s a closer look at the core materials we use in our products and why they are better for both you and the planet.
Recycled Polyester
For our technical wear and some of our core apparel pieces, we use recycled polyester. This material is derived from post-consumer waste, like plastic bottles, which are cleaned, melted down, and spun into fibres. Recycled polyester offers the same durability and moisture-wicking properties as virgin polyester, but with a significantly smaller environmental footprint.
Organic Cotton / Cotton
Cotton has been a staple in our collections since the beginning, particularly in our jersey t-shirts and sweatshirts. When possible, we choose organic cotton for our products. Organic cotton is grown without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers, using methods that support healthy soil and biodiversity. Even when using regular cotton, we select high-quality options that ensure longevity and comfort.
TPU (Thermoplastic Polyurethane)
We use TPU in some of our technical products, like waterproof jackets, to ensure optimal performance without sacrificing environmental responsibility. TPU offers impressive durability and flexibility, making it perfect for outdoor gear that needs to withstand wear and tear while keeping you dry. But what makes TPU particularly appealing is its environmental sustainability
FAQ's
Why Recycled Polyester is Good for Clothing and the Planet
Reduces Plastic Waste
By repurposing waste into new fabrics, we help reduce the volume of plastics in oceans and landfills.
Lower Carbon Footprint
Producing recycled polyester uses about 30-50% less energy compared to virgin polyester production, leading to fewer carbon emissions.
Performance Features
It retains all the benefits of traditional polyester, like strength, moisture management, and quick-drying properties, making it ideal for activewear and outdoor gear.Answe
Why do you use TPU?
Recyclable
TPU can be reprocessed and recycled, reducing the amount of waste that ends up in landfills.
Lower Energy Consumption
Compared to other plastics like PVC, TPU production generally requires less energy, making it a more eco-friendly choice.
Durability
Its long-lasting nature means that products made with TPU won’t need to be replaced as frequently, contributing to a more sustainable lifecycle.
What are the benefits of Organic Cotton?
Fewer Chemicals
Organic cotton farming avoids harmful pesticides and fertilisers, which means cleaner water systems and healthier ecosystems.
Lower Water Usage
Organic cotton often uses less water than conventional cotton due to better soil management practices.
Comfortable and Breathable
Cotton’s natural breathability and softness make it perfect for everyday wear, offering a comfortable fit while allowing your skin to breathe.
